This is the perfect solution for those who have a laptop sitting on their desk which is hooked up to a monitor and keyboard. My lap top is on a credenza near my desk. The cat(s) invariably can find no other place to walk or sleep but on your laptop. This is esp so if you have shooed the animal off your keyboard while you are typing. For whatever reason, open laptops are very appealing to cats. They want to lay down on them. Needless to say, such will do your laptop and your document absolutely no good what-so-ever. This product is the perfect solution. I place it over the open laptop and the cats can walk all over to their hearts content. Same with snoozing and napping on it. I can work undisturbed by cat-napping thanks to this devise. Once, the two of them were actually wrestling with one another on top of this monitor stand. My lap top was safe and sound beneath it an I typed away without missing a beat. There was the obligatory “knock off, you two” admonishment but otherwise all was well. I “encouraged” them to take their wrestling match elsewhere. The fact is, however, that this stand is very sturdy – it can easily withstand two cats (and one of my cats is very fat) without batting an eye. If you have cats and an open laptop on your desk or credenza, this is absolutely the way to go. It is like a cat-magnet. For whatever reason, they absolutely love this stand so it keeps them out of your hair (and off your keyboard). The cat(s) can spend many hours snoozing on this stand while you can work undisturbed. There is plenty of room under this stand – enough so that I put the lap top on a baking rack for better air circulation. I only needed to use two of the three available height adjusters. Be sure you buy the wide version – as this one is. Do not buy the smaller version as, then, your laptop will not fit underneath it
